How to Use Honeycomb Paper Wrap for Parcels

Honeycomb paper wrap is an item wrap, not a complete shipping box. Expand it as the supplied roll instructs, cover the item, then choose the outer carton and any additional cushioning for that item's weight, fragility and route. The method below is a selection checklist, not a transit-test result for Toreso's HoneyWrap proposal.

Check the item and its surface

Identify fragile edges, abrasion-sensitive finishes and any liquids before selecting a wrap.

3M's instructions for its own expanding paper caution that paper can abrade extremely delicate surfaces and does not protect against water, crushing or punctures. Use a suitable surface layer or another packing method where those risks matter. Do not transfer 3M's tested layer counts or protection claims to an untested Toreso roll.

Expand the paper before wrapping

Pull evenly so the cut cells open without tearing; keep the tension appropriate for the supplied paper.

A flat, unexpanded sheet does not behave like an opened honeycomb structure. 3M describes expanding its Cushion Lock material while wrapping. A different roll may need a dispenser or a different handling method, so request its instructions and trial a sample before setting a packing standard.

Wrap the item and build the box

Cover vulnerable faces and edges, then place the wrapped item in a suitable rigid box with enough internal protection to limit movement.

Do not treat a single wrap count as universal: material construction and item fragility differ. UPS advises a rigid box and cushioning suited to the contents. Check that the item does not move freely or contact the box wall, and follow the carrier's current sealing and labelling requirements.

Test the packed result before changing materials

Record the item, wrap, box and handling route as one packing specification.

For fragile dispatch, evaluate the assembled pack on representative items and routes before replacing an established method. Toreso has not published a HoneyWrap transit-test report or confirmed roll specifications, so request the supplied grade, width, length and commercial details before ordering.

Steps

01

Check the object's weight, fragile edges, finish and moisture sensitivity.

02

Request the actual roll's material, dimensions and handling instructions.

03

Expand a sample evenly, then wrap the item without leaving vulnerable faces exposed.

04

Add the appropriate rigid box and internal cushioning; check for movement and wall contact.

05

Seal and label to carrier requirements, then evaluate the complete pack on representative shipments.
